Reps. Warnick, Manweller will be in Davenport to meet with constituents
In 2012, when the Washington State Redistricting Commission approved the new lines for the legislative districts in the state, the 13th District gained almost all of Lincoln County. In an effort to communicate with their new constituency and learn more about the cities in Lincoln County, 13th District Reps. Judy Warnick and Matt Manweller plan to visit a different Lincoln County town once a month during the interim.
The legislators are scheduled to be in Davenport on July 11 at the Lincoln County Commissioners’ chambers from 11:45 a.m. until 3:15 p.m.
“Lincoln County is an important part of our district, and I want to continue to get to know the people, economy and issues that are important there,” said Warnick, R-Moses Lake. “I hope a lot of people will come out to meet with us to share their concerns and questions, or just to introduce themselves. I believe many of the rural values in Yakima, Kittitas and Grant counties are similar to Lincoln County, but there are unique challenges and a history in Lincoln County that, as state legislators, we need to understand so we can adequately represent the area.”
“We have a lot of ground to cover in the Thirteenth District and we want to make sure we are giving the people in Lincoln County an opportunity to meet with us so we can hear their comments, concerns and answer questions they may have,” said Manweller, R-Ellensburg. “We have been in session for almost six months and the opportunity to get out and travel the district has been limited. We hope citizens in Davenport and the surrounding area will take a few minutes to come meet with us.”
The Legislature is still working on an operating budget agreement and is currently in its second special session.
